A strong earthquake shook the Philippines. Its magnitude was 7.3 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake hit the northern part of the country at 8:43 am local time on Wednesday (July 27).

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the 7.3-magnitude earthquake had its origin in the mountainous region of Abra province and was centered at a depth of 25 kilometers below the surface.
However, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude of the earthquake was 7 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was 10 kilometers deep. In addition to the Philippines, its impact has also been felt in Japan, Taiwan, and China.

Local officials said that the strong earthquake caused cracks in several buildings.
