A petition has been filed with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to disqualify Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.
Faiq Shah, chairman of Amun Taraki Party, filed the petition after the Election Commission ruled that the PTI was receiving funds from prohibited sources. On the same day, former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif also said that he wants the government to take legal action against Imran. News from The Express Tribune and Dawn.
Faiq Shah requested the Election Commission to disqualify PTI Chairman Imran Khan under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution for submitting false affidavits.
The Election Commission has called for the withdrawal of special privileges enjoyed by Imran Khan as a member of the National Assembly and Prime Minister.
Imran has also been requested to be removed from the post of PTI chairman.
Meanwhile, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and PMLN chief Nawaz Sharif called on the central government to take immediate legal action against Imran. He made this call after the verdict of the Election Commission on Tuesday.
In an interview given to reporters in front of his residence in London, Nawaz said, "Today it has been proved and the whole country knows that Imran Khan is the biggest thief in the history of the country."
Nawaz also said that the manner in which Imran Khan took money from foreigners proved that he is the person who brought foreign agenda inside the country.

In view of a case filed by Babar, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultana Raza said there was evidence that Pakistan's opposition party PTI had received funds from banned sources. The commission yesterday issued a ruling directing the party to explain why these funds should not be seized.
The ruling also said that the group received funds from billionaire Arif Naqvi and 34 other foreign nationals. PTI showed ownership of eight accounts and kept 13 accounts secret.
PTI leader Fawad Chowdhury told reporters after the verdict that most of the money came from expatriate Pakistanis. He said, "I don't understand why PML-N, JUI, and PPP are declaring diaspora Pakistanis as enemies.
