Taiwan is not on Pelosi's Asia tour list

Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the lower house of the US Parliament, has started her Asia tour amid tension with China over Taiwan. However, Taiwan's name is not on the tour list. This has been reported in a report of the news agency Reuters on Sunday.

Pelosi said in a tweet on Sunday that she will attend high-level meetings in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan.

He tweeted amid speculation that Pelosi may make an unannounced visit to Taiwan's capital, Taipei, during her Asia tour.

Meanwhile, China has started military drills in the sea area next to Taiwan last Saturday in fear of Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

Taiwan has had a separate government since 1940. However, China has been claiming the country as its own part. The country has been opposing diplomatic recognition of Taiwan as a separate state.

Chinese President Xi Jinping had a phone conversation with US President Joe Biden last Thursday. He cautioned US representatives against visiting Taiwan or attempting to recognize the island's independence. He told Biden, "He who plays with fire must be burned."

The United States has not yet officially recognized Taiwan as an independent state. But the country sells arms to Taiwan.
